VA Opera in the Schools

For the past 24 years, ArtsLIVE! has sponsored performances of the Virginia Opera in elementary schools throughout the region.

In March and April 2019, more than 6,900 children at 16 public and private schools in Fredericksburg and six neighboring counties were entertained by the production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Funded by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and a variety of grants, charitable funds, and individual donors, this program’s reach has increased by 50% in just five years.

Because of COVID-19, performances for 2020 had to be canceled; but when school schedules return to normal and permit students to assemble in large groups, ArtsLIVE! will once again bring this special entertainment-with-a-message to children again.
